The coronavirus pandemic has seen the Government take unprecedented steps to keep the country afloat during numerous lockdowns.
Now, Boris Johnson’s newly appointed Chief of Staff Steve Barclay has declared the Government should “restore a smaller state” and take “a step back from people’s lives”.
Mr Barclay declared: “It’s time to return to a more enabling approach. To trust the people, return power to communities and free up business to deliver.”
The statement is an attempt to quell mutinous backbench MPs still furious over the parties held during lockdown, several of which the Prime Minister allegedly attended.
So, do you think the Conservatives should get back to their ideological standpoint following the worst of the pandemic? Where do you think the Government should go from here?
