Earlier today (January 4), Met Police put out an appeal to the public after an alarming incident in Lewisham on December 28.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was reported missing from Lewisham on the evening of December 27, but returned home in the early hours of Monday, December 28, with a man who was not know to her.
The woman arrived back home early on December 28, after which the police were called and the woman alleged that she had been sexually assaulted by the man, who had already left.
She stated that between midnight and 4:30am, the man took her to his flat in the Forest Hill area, near to where she lives, and sexually assaulted her.
Officers said they were now keen to speak to the suspect.
But in the latest update from police, officers have arrested a 41-year-old from Forest Hill in relation to the same incident.
The suspect was identified through forensic identification, and was arrested on suspicoon of rape.
He was taken to a south London police station where he has been released on bail until January 29.
Police say enquiries into the incident continue.
