Greater Manchester Police have released images of a man they want to speak to after a mother was stabbed in front of her young child in a "vicious and unprovoked attack".

Detectives are treating the incident in south Manchester on Saturday afternoon as attempted murder.

The victim, 24, was walking with her five-year-old son on Rudheath Avenue, Withington, when she was approached by a man with a knife.
