A jealous ex-boyfriend tricked his former girlfriend into a date with another man then shot her when she accepted the offer.
Marcus Beard, 45, admitted to the twisted revenge plan and will now spend 19 years in prison, prosecutors announced Thursday on in Cobb County, Georgia.
Authorities say Beard had another person convince his ex-girlfriend into meeting him for a date at a Starbucks on Cumberland Parkway in 2017.
When she arrived, Beard appeared and shot her once in the chest, then fled in a vehicle. according to the district attorneys office.
Prosecutor Richele Anderson said: This was an egregiously evil act. This defendant went there that day with the intention of murdering her.
The woman, who has not been named, miraculously survived the shooting an Beard was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Beard had previously been convicted of aggravated stalking charges in Fulton County, according to CBS 46.
